My dear Christians,

The person of the Most Holy Theotokos, whose Assumption which our Holy Church celebrates today, has a central place in the work of the Divine Economy, in Orthodox theology and the daily devotional life of the Church. All our faith, our doctrine, hymnology, the composition and arrangement of the sacred our services is woven around Mother of the Lord.

The Virgin Mother of our Lord is the most extraordinary thing that she has to offer not only human nature but all of creation. She is superior even to the angelic powers, “more honourable than the Cherubim, and more excellent than Seraphim. The presence her presence in the world is not only a shining example of purity, cleanliness humility, a unique synthesis of universal and full virtues, a model of holiness. It is the ultimate consolation for every person.

The Virgin Mary is the scale ‘through which God descended’ and the bridge ‘which brought them from earth to heaven’. Our Church, in her person, sees Her who brought God to the people in His incarnation and the one who especially ministers to man. Ιn his struggle for theosis. Alongside her example Her intercessions are of benefit; along with Her virtues we need Her’s prayers

On the occasion of today’s feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which has welcomed in Her womb the Saviour and Redeemer of the world, I take this opportunity to submit to your love some thoughts on the sanctity of motherhood, which unfortunately in our days is becoming a matter of commercial transaction and unintended alienation of the child from its natural mother.

Motherhood, beloved, is a providence of God’s charity for man. The embrace of mother and infant is already a metamorphosis into the gardens of paradise. The infant is not a domestic animal. And the world that awaits it is not Paradise.

The maternal instinct finds ways to become a shield. Critical filter motherhood. Because the mother senses what she has to face her offspring in this world, she cultivates its body in a healthy way.

In the merciful spirit of God. In the cataclysmic apology of the world the only counterbalance is motherhood, because the spiritual of the mother will impart to the infant’s breath the breath of God.

It will help it to get to know the world not from outside but inside. From the sacred place of coexistence. Concepts in perception. To the sensory organs of the senses will open the perceptual doors of the heart and mind. Aided by the whole gift of creation with its ethereal breaths and its mysterious silence. Silence is the womb that ignites the presences with the intoxication of mystery. It extinguishes the absences with transience and tames the mutiny of decay. The mother must help the child to understand the living silence within him that unfolds his gifts.

Different times accompanied by “smart” achievements are spreading their nets to prey on creation and man. But God knows the horror of our fall and responds with faces. Not is the child a miserable, weak subject, exposed tragedies of life. It is the legacy of the eternal in the time. And the mother feels it’s her duty to help him to listen its call – its gestating potential of his face – the “in this nika” of his life. For the ontological man’s freedom lies in the truth of his destiny. And at this step he enters from the sacred step of the temple. Each church is an opportunity to see the world from the inside.

This conducting of the innermost through the life of Christ and of the saints will be in the path of the “weapon of peace” and a doorway to the spiritual knowledge; longsuffering and a path of resurrection in every trial; armour of grace. So that he may not be deceived by mortal knowledge. …and phantasmagorical sticks. Lest he be hardened by of futility selfishness in his heart.

Dear all, on the occasion of today’s feast we will close we must say that the Virgin Mary manipulates. Her “youth” in Her only begotten Son and Her sacrifices are a unceasing testimony of transcendence. It is no coincidence that next to Beautiful Gate stands the Virgin Mary as Mother. To this woman leave we can our burdens and by her grace to transform our simply steps into heavenly ones. This ministry we can intuitively discerned through the beating heart of the mother who lies awake and prays. It is impossible for man to grasp the meaning of his life if he does not perceive the “identity” with eternity. The first school on this great mystery remains the glorious legacy of his eternal Mother of the Lord and of each of us.

His Eminence Metropolitan Damaskinos of Didymoteichos, Orestiad and Soufli, was born in Athens in 1959. After graduating from the Model Evangelical School of Nea Smyrna, he studied Law and Theology at the University of Athens. For two years (1982-1985) he practiced law in Athens. On 25 January 1995, he was elected by the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Athens, under the title of the formerly illustrious Bishopric of Diavlia and was consecrated on 27 January 1995, presided over by the late Metropolitan Dionysios of Drama. He participated as Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of many Synodal Committees and Ecclesiastical Missions abroad. On behalf of the Holy Synod, he oversaw the publication of the Synodal Encyclicals for the years 1957-2000. Metropolitan of Didymoteicho, Orestiad and Soufli, elected by the Hierarchy of the Church of Greece on 12 October 2009 and enthroned in Didymoteicho on 19 November 2009.
